NANDA

In 1973, Kristine Gebbie and Mary Ann Lavin from St Louis University School of Nursing convened a group of nurses to explore opportunities for naming and classifying the health-related issues addressed by nurses in practice. They established consensus for the development of standardized language to communicate and distinguish the work of nurses for patients, families and other healthcare providers. The group has gained momentum internationally with its approach to integrating theory and science in practice.  NANDA-International’s vision is to serve as a global force for the development and use of nursing’s standardized terminology that supports evidence-based care to improve healthcare of all people.
