With great enthusiasm and a deep commitment to our noble profession, I humbly present my candidacy for the position of President. My vision is to lead our organization into a new era of global influence, collaborative innovation, and unwavering advocacy for nurses worldwide.
As a nurse with extensive leadership experience, I bring a unique blend of strategic thinking, diplomatic acumen, and a passion for advancing nursing on the world stage. My career has been defined by several key attributes:
1) Global Perspective: Having worked with international organizations and led healthcare initiatives across diverse cultures, I possess a nuanced understanding of global health challenges and opportunities.
2) Strategic Vision: My track record in long-term planning and priority setting will drive ICN forward, ensuring we remain at the forefront of shaping policy.
3) Financial Stewardship: With a strong background in financial management, I am committed to ensuring ICN's fiscal health and sustainable growth.
4) Collaborative Leadership: My experience in chairing boards and managing organizations has honed my skills in fostering teamwork, resolving conflicts, and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
5) Effective Communication: As an articulate communicator comfortable with media engagements, I will be a powerful voice for ICN and the global nursing community.
6) Policy Expertise: My proficiency in policy development, implementation, and evaluation will strengthen ICN's role in shaping nursing and healthcare policies worldwide.
7) Advocacy: I pledge to be a tireless advocate for nurses' rights, working conditions, and professional development, ensuring our voices are heard at the highest levels of global health governance.
If elected, my priorities will include:
- Strengthening ICN's partnerships with WHO, UN agencies, and other international bodies elevating nursing's role in achieving global health goals and amplifying our voice in regional forums.
- Promoting evidence-based practice and research to drive improvements in patient care and health outcomes.
- Leveraging technology and innovation to enhance ICN's global reach and support for member associations.
- Championing investment in nursing education and leadership development, particularly in underserved regions.
- Advancing initiatives to address the global nursing shortage and promote fair, safe working conditions for nurses worldwide.
As ICN President, I commit to leading with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering dedication to our shared values. I will work tirelessly to unite our global nursing community, amplify our collective voice, and advance our profession's crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare.
In recent years Presidential leadership of ICN has been dominated by a small number of high-income countries. It is 100 years since China has held this prestigious position and even then, it was an American Missionary Nurse who was elected. This time when we return to Helsinki after a century has passed, greater diversity is needed.
Together, we can elevate nursing to unprecedented heights of influence and impact. I humbly ask for your support and vote as we embark on this exciting journey to transform global health through nursing leadership.
Remember - Solid Plans Lead to Clear Actions!
Thank you for your consideration.
