PR 04

Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein, WHO Patron for Nursing and Midwifery and a long-time supporter of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), will be the guest of honour at the ICN Congress in Montreal, Canada in July 2023.

ICN President, Dr Pamela Cipriano was delighted to receive confirmation of the Princess’ attendance.

“Princess Muna has been a loyal supporter and advocate for nursing and ICN. Her comments at the World Health Assembly last year were inspiring to the nurses of the world and hugely helpful to the work that ICN is doing to support nurses in these difficult times.

We are honoured that she has accepted to join us at the Congress along with an incredible line-up of expert speakers who will discuss key topics such as nursing leadership; emergency and disaster management; nursing regulation and education; improving the quality and safety of healthcare delivery; advancing nursing practice; growing and sustaining the nursing workforce; promoting and enabling healthier communities; and addressing global health priorities and strengthening health systems.”

In partnership with Canadian Nurses Association, the ICN 2023 Congress, 1-5 July 2023, will bring together the powerful force of the 28 million nurses worldwide to learn, share and network. This face-to-face event will unite nurses from around the world with renewed strength and energy to make a difference. It will look at how the world can build on the lessons learned from the pandemic, from protecting nurses rights, ensuring decent working conditions, optimizing nurses’ scope of practice, and fair pay, to driving nursing leadership, respect for the profession, and a greater impact on health policies at all levels.

Early bird rates for registration to Congress are open until 31 January. Participants will receive full access to all official Congress sessions; e-posters; partner and industry symposia; master classes; a vibrant exhibition space; networking opportunities; and continuing education credits (ICNECs). To register, go to https://icncongress2023.org/register/

The Council of National Nursing Association Representatives, ICN’s global governing body, will convene prior to the Congress from 29 June to 1 July 2023. Congress participants who are members of ICN member associations will be able to observe global nursing leaders, identify the profession’s priorities and future directions.

ICN will also host a free-of-charge one-day event for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate nursing students. The ICN Nursing Student Assembly will be held on 30 June and will provide students the opportunity to connect, explore and collaborate on priority issues selected by students themselves.

A commercial and professional exhibition, run concurrently with the Congress, will give universities, health ministries, nursing organisations, publishers, medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and local artisans the opportunity to showcase their products and services and present the most recent health care information.
